Local DECA Chapters Successful at State Career Development Conference

Wheatmore High School and Trinity High School DECA Chapters competed last week at the State Career Development Conference in Greensboro, North Carolina. Both chapters brought home awards and honors for student competitors and their chapters.

Wheatmore High School earned a Chapter of Distinction – Heroic Level honor for increased membership and the following students were recognized as proficient in their events:

Buying & Merchandising Team Event

Retail Marketing

Additionally, the following were state finalists in their events:

Marketing Management
Scotty Spicer – Tied for 9th overall in the state
Michael Fields – Tied for 9th overall in the state

Additionally, two out of the ten THS attendees earned top ten honors:

Personal Financial Literacy
Austin Walters – Top three in the state
Mary English – Top ten in the state

Trinity’s chapter was awarded a plaque for NC DECA Chapter of Distinction.

Congratulations to these students and their faculty advisors – Ken Wilson (WHS), Renee Driggers (THS) and Jandra Dillon (THS).
