WHS students competed on Wednesday, December 2 in Burlington, NC at the NC DECA District 5 Marketing Competitive Events Conference (MCEC). DECA is an international association of high school and college students and teachers of marketing and related fields. The US Department of Education recognizes DECA as one of ten Career and Technical Student Organizations. With nearly a 70-year history, DECA has impacted the lives of more than ten million students, educators, schools administrators and business professionals since it was founded in 1946.
Wheatmore High School’s Kadie Miller won a medallion for a Top 12 finish in the Apparel & Accessories written exam. Other competitors scored proficient in their categories as follows:
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. There are 215,000 high school DECA members in 3,500 chapters around the globe.
